New Bus Station Open
Colchester's new bus station in Osborne Street and Stanwell Street has now been open for some months and over the next few weeks some additional work will be carried out to make it even better.
For information about where buses stop please click Bus Station Leaflet [3Mb] Please note that you should always check this information because it is subject to change and only offered as information at the date of publication
If you are looking to collect someone from a timetabled coach (National Express or Stansted airport bus) there is a pick up/drop off point on the north side of Osborne Street outside Kwik Fit tyres. Please accept our apologise that the signage is still not in place, but we expect this to be done soon.
Following a period of monitoring and speaking to bus users it was agreed that bigger and better bus shelters were needed on the Stanwell Street arm of the facility. these are currently under construction and will be put in place during August. Here is what to expect Additional Shelters [1Mb]
The existing JC Decaux shelters in this location will be relocated. One will be repositioned at stop Aa, adjacent to the toilets. The other will go to the alternative Coach Stop on East Hill/High Street.
It was also suggested that additional seating was needed and this will be located mainly around the external protrusion on the western end of the Gala operation and some along the SW edge of the waiting lounge.
The works will see an extra 25 seats at the bus station
An operator has been secured to provide refreshments for bus travellers. This has been secured in partnership with the Town Centre Zone team and we will be very interested to see how this is embraced at the Bus Station
The Bus Station is part of Essex County Council and Colchester Borough Council's work to improve bus travel and passenger facilities throughout the town.
